<美洲鳄/窄吻鳄>

美洲鳄是较大型的鳄，可以长到6米以上，不过现在的平均身长是3.4米。美洲鳄是鳄亚科中分布最北的成员，最北可到达美国佛罗里达南部，向南经中美洲、西印度群岛到达厄瓜多尔和秘鲁，可出现于海湾、泻湖、河流、湖泊等不同水域，并可以象湾鳄一样穿越较宽阔的海面。美洲鳄在河流边的沙岸上挖洞产卵，以鱼、哺乳动物、鸟、龟等为食。
美洲鳄在美洲的鳄亚科中是分布最广泛、数量较多的，但仍然属濒危物种。
