<恒河鳄>

恒河鳄是较大的鳄，平均体长4米，有些体型更大。恒河鳄口鼻部宽阔而沉重，是鳄亚科中口鼻部最宽的成员。恒河鳄生活于印度、斯里兰卡、巴基斯坦、尼泊尔和伊朗东南部的河流、池塘、沼泽以至人工水域中，除了食鱼以外，也能捕食包括人在内的大型哺乳动物。
恒河鳄挖洞产卵，是鳄中唯一每年产卵两窝的种类，每窝平均产卵30枚。恒河鳄是易危物种，在印度的动物园有较多数量繁殖。
