<扬子鳄/鼍>

扬子鳄酷似小型的密西西比鳄，体长平均仅1.8米，但是3000年前的个体可达到3米。扬子鳄仅生活于长江中下游的沼泽、池塘和湖泊中，以蜗牛、贝类、昆虫和小哺乳动物为食，挖洞越冬。扬子鳄繁殖习性接近密西西比鳄，在7月交配，10月底孵化。扬子鳄属濒危物种，野外仅存数百只，但是人工养殖数量尚多，除中国外，美国布朗克斯动物园等一些动物园和养殖场也繁殖成功。
