<盾吻古鳄/居氏侏凯门鳄/盾吻南美鼍>

盾吻古鳄是体型最小的鳄，雄鳄体长1.5米，雌鳄仅1.2米，吻部短而头骨高。盾吻古鳄生活于亚马孙盆地的水淹森林和流速较快的溪流中，以鱼和多种无脊椎动物为食。盾吻古鳄的繁殖习性不明，只知其修筑堆起的巢。盾吻古鳄的皮肤不适合利用，使其现存的数量还比较多，不属于受威胁物种。
